The new 48 inch wingspan Zagi-HP (hardpoint) is a new more versatile flying wing from Trick Wings. The new motor tray employs a built in hardpoint mounting system. The new system integrates a laser cut 1/8" plywood motor mount laminated inside in the styrene motor tray. The universal HP mount has three different pre-drilled holes in patterns for most brushless motors including the brushed Zagi Pusher motor. This mount system provides the ridged platform brushless power requires. The HP mount insures no deformation of the form as it distributes the thrust and torque load over a wide area of the foam wing. A five carbon fiber spar matrix keeps the wing ridged and stable at speeds over 100 mph. The 3100 kv 28 x 36 brushless inrunner was designed and custom crafted for maximum performance for the Zagi. An 11.1 LiPo battery will turn the 5X5 prop at 22,000 rpm at only of 28 amps in static testing. Unloaded in flight, the rpm is 20% higher and the current is 20% lower. That means longer flights with light-weight 2100 to 2500 mAh batteries and a smaller 30 amp ESC.
Higher 3600 to 4000 kv motors were tested and were found power hungry. They produced more heat than power. The amps measured from 40 to 65 amps but the rpm remained almost the same.
The Walkera 30 amp ESC is well suited to the Zagi-HP. This ESC is wired with 13ga wire for low resistance.
